Pay What You Can – May 6th to May 29th
Wednesdays & Fridays, 7:30a-8:15a

Where do you go to tap into higher truth, wisdom, and energy?

Fortunately, these capacities are already inside of you. You can systematically access this space with the appropriate techniques, of course, some guidance is also helpful.  Meditation need not be a struggle.

For the month of May, our series will focus on Meditation to Increase Shakti.  Shakti is the feminine force within creation – the inherent power of life.  Channeled appropriately, Shakti awakens your higher potentials of mind and spirit. This meditation series will cultivate that ability.

Derik Eselius, a yoga student of nearly 30 years, leads this series. His approach, based on tantric methodology, synergistically combines asana, bandha, pranayama, mantra, and meditation.  The combined effect of these practices is far greater than the sum of their parts.  While some experience is recommended, it isn’t a requirement.

Hatha Yoga Meditation Series Format:

  1. Introduction & ceremony
  2. Brief asana & bandha practice
  3. Mantra for healing
  4. Pranayama & Meditation to Increase Shakti
  5. Closing mantra (prayer for peace)

Pay What You Can – June 1st to June 29th

The five primary seats of energy in the body, called vayus, hold the keys to accessing the deeper power of yoga asana, provided one knows how to use them.  This class will give you a foundational understanding of these invisible powers that will significantly influence the way you practice from here on out.  All the techniques lead up to greater ease in and depth of meditation.

Lesser-known aspects of Hatha Yoga include:

  • Asana
  • Bandha/Mudra
  • Mantra
  • Pranayama
  • And our final meditation

This series is offered on a Pay What You Can basis, an equitable format that allows anyone to participate and encourages an equitable exchange.  You can sign up for the entire series (recommended) or single sessions.

Denver Yoga Underground is exceedingly grateful to host, Kristine Whittle E-RYT 500, a veteran Restorative Yoga Teacher Training (Level I&II) teacher for the past 10 years.

Kristine Whittle: Kristine started teaching yoga in Denver in 2002.   As a formerly Certified Anusara Yoga instructor she draws upon her detailed understanding of postural alignment and balanced energetic and muscular action.  Her astute ability to read the body has also been informed by her massage therapy training, kinesiology, Body-Mind Centering, Alexander technique, Feldenkrais, Pilates and extensive dance background.

Kristine’s teaching style has been described as generous, well-informed, gentle, encouraging, and compassionate. She aims to strike a balance between precise instruction and space for her students to breathe into and deeply enjoy their practice. Kristine regularly offers Workshops, Teacher Trainings and Retreats throughout Colorado.

Derik Eselius: DYU’s founder and director will be assisting at this workshop.  His yoga journey started in 1991 with an off chance trip to India, just after high school.  He regards Baba Hari Dass, whom he met on that first trip to India, and Yogarupa Rod Stryker as his primary teachers, after many years of study under their guidance.  He has been teaching full time since 2001.

Dates and Times:

Fri. Aug. 28th, 6:00pm-9pm
Sat. Aug. 29th, 9:00am-5:00pm
Sun. Aug. 30th, 9:00am-5:00pm

Pay What You Can!  PWYC is an equitable format that allows everyone to participate and honor the wisdom, commitment, and dedication of the teachers.  Here is how it works…

Option #1: Pay in Full at Market Value: Some people would rather just have it all settled before the workshop gets started. If that’s the case, you can pay the market value of $250 for the entire 18 hr. workshop in advance.

Option #2: PWYC: This is how I invite you to pay.  Submit your $100 to secure your space in the workshop.  This deposit is refundable up until two weeks before the workshop. After that, it is not.  At the end of your workshop, you can pay whatever you want on top of the deposit, whatever you are able. Whatever you pay is perfect.

This workshop is limited to just 30 participants!

Kristine Whittle, Derik Eselius and Denver Yoga Underground
