300 HOUR YOGA TEACHER TRAINING

An 8-Month In-Person Immersion into the

Forgotten Depth & Holistic Nature of Yoga Practice

_____________

For Dedicated Practitioners & Teachers Who Want

To Give More to Students

_____________

Next Session: Sept. ‘24 – April ‘25

Dear Yogi,

A 300-hour yoga teacher training is an exceptional opportunity to once again, study yoga in a dedicated format and build off a prior 200-hour training.

Perhaps…

  • 200 hour YTT was life changing for you
  • Still value a dedicated circle of support & camaraderie
  • Recent employment, relationship, health or location change
  • Want to further excel as a teacher
  • And reconnect to the spirit of yoga

A BIT OF CONTEXT….

People commonly underestimate the effect yoga will have on their life. What starts as recreational activity, a way to “get more flexible”, a high school or college elective or “a way to destress” becomes a daily passion and pursuit. Maybe that’s you.

A 300-hour YTT is a dedicated container for immersive practice, spiritual connection, and personal attunement.

Moreover, a 300-hour training will make you a more informed, confident and embodied teacher who can more wholy shares the spirit and practice of yoga, based on knowledge and personal insight.

I’ll be honest, a 300-hour yoga teacher training is a big commitment:

  • Do your research
  • Enroll in a program the resonates with your values
  • With teachers you respect and can learn from
  • Maybe a home-practice, regular class, or workshop is enough?

“IS A 300-HOUR YOGA TEACHER TRAINING IMPERATIVE
AND IS DYU’S APPROACH FOR ME?”

There are many 300-hour in-person and online offerings; and many places to study in Denver. Some studios prioritize asana to the exclusion of all else. Denver Yoga Underground reverently holds space for the full scope of traditional yogic methodologies and philosophies.

DYU’s 300-hour Yoga Teacher Training is a good fit if you…

  • Appreciate asana as a means to a greater end
  • Value study of original yogic texts
  • Have at least 2-3 years of experience as a practitioner
  • Hold a service mindset and contribute to peers
  • Are open to deeper forms of pranayama & meditation
  • Value yoga is a spiritual practice
  • Are self-directed, complete assignments and appreciate self-reflection
  • Want to study with veteran teachers with decades of experience

And is not such a good fit if…

  • Primarily interested in asana as a fitness-based practice
  • Have a health condition beyond our ability to safely work with (inquiries welcome)
  • Life is already maxed out – and another commitment will break something
  • Want a program to reinforce what you already know vs. open curiosity
  • Habitually late, with little regard for the collective learning environment
  • Technology dependent, e.g. impulsively check one’s phone during presentations. Or expect to Zoom to class at will.

OUR BELIEFS & VALUES IN A NUTSHELL….

Asana, pranayama, meditation, chanting and scriptural study are means to the much larger ideal of yoga – union with spirit. Techniques are the things-we-can-do to support deeper self-realization, and not realization in and of itself. Yoga is not so much something we do as something we are and become.

The methods are vehicles to be established in the fullest possible version of Self and to live harmoniously.

Yoga practice and realization occurs now; within your relationships; in your character and values; the quality of your thoughts; the manner of your breath; and connection with Spirit.

This can look like:

  • Ongoing self reflection
  • Recognize judgements and projections
  • Generosity, compassion and truthfulness in dealings
  • Temper unwholesome desires
  • Make decisions aligned with one’s inner-life
  • Regular spiritual practice

As a place of learning, Denver Yoga Underground values:

  • Openness & honesty
  • Mutual respect and support
  • Dedicated effort
  • Inclusivity towards varied sexual orientations/identities, ethnicities, ages, and abilities
  • Integration of content – presentation & experience go hand & hand

DYU’s 300 hr. Yoga Teacher Training resonates.

I think I’m ready to make this a priority.”

Q & A

POSSIBLE QUESTIONS & OUR RESPONSES

You might see similar words written on another 300 hour yoga teacher training website: “Ayurveda”, “Chakra”, “Advanced Teaching Skills”.  And I am sure most do a good job of it.

I (Derik) have 20 years of experience as a teacher. And have taught University students, at studios, in corporations, at rehab centers, and more.  I would say that our program is more holistic than most.

We dive deeper into the spiritual and contemplative aspects of the yoga tradition, meditation in particular. Our teaching staff is selected; fewer teachers with more years of experience. This leads to a more concentrated presentation.

In the broadest sense, our program is centered on the teachings of Raja yoga (the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali) and Tantric Hatha Yoga.

Hatha Yoga is the genesis of all forms of asana we see today, from power, to flow, to restorative.  Hatha yoga postures can either be adapted  to be more stationary or fluid. The system also includes breathing methods, meditation, postures, theory, diet and lifestyle.

Download our free YTT Research Guide for a comprehensive tour of our program and other resources.

Yoga is a dynamic art and science of total physical, mental/emotional, and spiritual integration. We value a holistic approach and present a variety of methodologies and perspectives.

Sample estimation of our program: 45% asana, 10% meditation and pranayama, 15% theory/philosophy, 5% group work (not including student teaching exercises), 25% student teaching.

The  yoga training is scheduled every other weekend from Sept. – April. Weekends go from 8:30am-6pm on Saturday and 8am-6pm on Sunday.  There is significant space between formal study sessions.

Between sessions, expect to develop a home practice, student teach, and do “integration exercises” in tandem with theoretical concepts.  Additionally, you will read about a half dozen books over the course of the 8 month program.

As a rough estimate, plan on an average of 2-4 hours of outside assignments per week.

A 300 hour training is a substantial commitment. Make sure that there is enough emotional, economic, and logistical-support bandwidth in your life to support you all the way to completion of the training. When you enroll, intend to see it through.

If surprises come up, we will do our best to work with you.

A prerequisite 200 hour YTT is required before you take the 300 hour yoga teacher training.  We ask for a minimum of 2-3 years of regular experience as a student and or teacher prior to participation in this program.

Complete an Enrollment Form and submit either a Deposit or Pay in Full to officially register.

Our space can comfortably hold about 26 students. In all likelihood, your 300 hour yoga teacher training cohort will probably have about a dozen students in it.

Ideally you can attend every session, however, we recognize that obligations come up, trips happen, and sometimes people get sick.

In the case of sickness, work related travel and family emergencies, Zoom sessions are made available on a case by case basis.
