A New Year’s Sadhana:
40-Day Sugar Fast
A Simple, Intentional Reset for Body, Mind, and Habit

January 1 – February 10
The fast is a quiet but meaningful gesture—a chance to become a fuller version of yourself. It starts on the New Year, a fresh chance to observe how we live, consume, and apply our energies.
Refined sugar—woven deeply into modern food systems, fuels cycles of craving, distraction, and fatigue that quietly shape our days. This fast is not about purity or restriction. It is an experiment in attention.
- Cultivate self awareness
- Move from “should” to discovery
- Increase energy
- Accessible format
The Sugar Fast continues Denver Yoga Underground’s tradition of seasonal sadhana—simple, accessible practices that invite clarity rather than intensity, and awareness rather than perfection.
The sugar fast is simple by design, take one ingredient off the list, includes:

- High fructose corn syrup
- Dextrose, glucose, fructose, sucrose, maltose
- Brown sugar, invert sugar, cane sugar
Enjoy fruit and honey freely. The fast is largely self-directed and grounded in personal responsibility rather than rigid rules.
While the fast itself is self-guided, you are not alone.
