The Power of Sound in Yoga

~ ~ ~

~ ~ ~

Commonly overshadowed by asana, yoga has a rich history of sonic practices to powerfully affect transformation in a human being’s health and psyche.  We may already delight in the resonance of OM or heard mantras; this workshop will give deeper context to the yoga of sound; supplemented with potent experiential practice sessions.

Includes: Asana, bandha, mudra, pranayama, meditation & mantra

Session I: Sat. Feb. 15th – 9AM to Noon

Peel back the surface layer of the creation and into the role of sound in yoga cosmology, practice & realization. How sound gives us access to deeper dimensions of yoga practice.

Session II: Sat. Feb. 15th – 1PM to 4pm

Often the first mantra that students learn, OM (or AUM) is imbued with practical and mystical significance. Learn the deeper and universal importance of this essential sound & experience its depth. You’ll never hear it quite the same again!

Session III: Sun. Feb. 16th – 9AM to Noon

Bija Mantra or “Seed Sounds” are condensed points of energy and sound, used to access and awaken the subtle body–including the chakra system–and its expansive potential.

Session IV: Sun. Feb. 16th – 1PM to 4PM

Gayatri mantra is one of the most revered chants and fills the practitioner with celestial light. Learn about the sacred dimensions of this timeless mantra and practice it in earnest through asana & seated practice.
